So You Want To Be A Lifeguard?
Whether you are looking for a part time summer job or a long term career choice, lifeguarding is a unique and rewarding experience for teenagers and adults of all ages.

As a Lifeguard you have a fundamental moral obligation to act in a manner that protects people. Your performance contributes to the safety, security and overall well-being of our patrons. You can take pride in knowing that you truly do make a difference.

COURSE FEE: $185
Includes lifeguard course manual and supplies
*Students must attend all class sessions and participate in all water and land activities.
Challenges: a lifeguard looking to update certification
Lifeguard/First Aid and CPR/AED Challenges offered 12-4pm on the last day of each session. Lifeguards should be able to complete all the required skills and pass the written tests without any review or help from the instructor.
CPR/AED only Challenge: $50
Complete Lifeguard Challenge: $75 (Including CPR/AED)
Passing Students Will Receive:
3 Year Certification In Lifeguarding and First Aid
1 Year Certification In CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Lifeguard Candidates’ Must Meet All 3 Prerequisite Requirements:
-Must be 15 years old on or before the last day of class
-Swim 300 continuously using front stroke and breaststroke
- Swim 20 yards, surface dive 7 - 10 ft, retrieve a 10lb object then return to the starting point and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute 40 seconds
Lifeguarding at the Worthington Pools
Are you interested in working at the Worthington Pools this summer? Applicants (not their parents) must pick up an application at the pool office, or you can email us to request an application at any time.
Students who take a lifeguarding course or challenge here at the Worthington pools this spring, and then works 100 hours or more at the Worthington Pools this summer, will be reimburesed the instructor fee of $140 (less for "Challenges").
