Water Safety Instructors (WSI)

Water Safety Instructor Courses:
Learn proper technique and methodology on how to effectively, efficiently and safely teach children and adults how to swim.  Classes are taught in the classroom and in the pool, with hands on learning and immediate corrective feedback.  At the conclusion of this class, you will be an authorized teacher of American Red Cross preschool aquatics, learn to swim classes, and safety training for coaches.  Additionally, you will receive your Fundamentals of Instructor Training certification.

Prerequisites:
*Must be 16 by the last day of class
*Must be able to proficiently demonstrate the
following swim strokes:
     Freestyle (25 yards)
     Backstroke (25 yards)
     Breaststroke (25 yards)
     Sidestroke (25 yards)
     Butterfly (15 yards)
*Float on back for 1 minute in deep water
*Float on stomach for 1 minute in deep water

Instructional fee will be reimbursed to any student who teaches a required number of hours for the Worthington Pools
